Quick Review

This gi is ridiculously light and I’ve been told it’s IBJJF legal. Even though it’s made of complete ripstop material (jacket and pants) it’s not the waxy kind so it should pass through inspection, we can’t guarantee that though as we all know how it is going through those checkers.

The gi itself didn’t shrink very much if at all over the course of the many months we’ve used and abused this gi. This was our first pure ripstop gi and it was definitely an eye opener to our grip breaking, or lack of I should say. For the first week or so I got murdered because I wasn’t used to such a light material and people being able to grip it so easily. I quickly had to sink or swim and my grip breaking has gotten better due to this gi.

The two spots of embroidery were done well but the only drawback is the material is slightly see through when damp on the jacket, but not the pants. Both materials look the same so I’m not sure how that works out.

Since the gi is so minimal there isn’t a whole lot to say about this gi other than it’s a great travel gi, or if you have to make weight for your first match and get to change afterwards. Given the price is also a steal at $75 for the white one, $87 for blue, and $100 for a black one, you really can’t go wrong with this gi if you want a lightweight, quick drying gi to travel with.

Pick it up if you travel a lot and can’t afford the luxurious space a regular pearl, gold, or double weave takes up in your luggage.
